Have you ever felt taking advantage of over and over again by others that you don't need in your life what so ever? Well congratulations you're probably a man, at least you exhibit man like qualities that make people treat you like one. As men we are constantly given problems to solve for others everyday, even when it's not our occupation to solve these problems. In fact others in our lives go out of their way to create problems just to bring them back for us to solve. Those problems cause us time, treasure, talent and in many cases require for us to be tenacious in order to bring them at bay.
Meanwhile the same ones that caused those problems, you know the same ones that asked you to solve those problems will turn around and give you advice about life. I'll tell you what you should be doing to make their life even easier. As if you're not already doing that. They got some nuts on them don't they?. And for a good percentage of the time they're normally a woman. Admit it, as you were reading that sentence you were picturing the woman in your life or maybe your daughter, your sister or even your mother that brings you problem after problem to solve. It's OK to admit it.
I consider this to be modern day usury. Usury originally was a Lender taking advantage of a borrower when the borrower was in dire need of money. Knowing how desperate the borrower was the lender would apply an exorbitant amount of interest and fees on to the loan. Whereas the standard loan percentage might be 7% a year by law, the lender would apply a percentage of 30 or 40% due within nine or ten months, this is traditional usury. However it seems to me that modern day usury is when a person knowing that a man is in a position to be responsible and that he takes that responsibility extremely serious, that person using that fact to their advantage by staying consistent with their request for upgrades, additions, and even lifelong dreams all laid at the feet of that person that they are fully aware has a habit and a compulsion to serve and provide and solve.
The additional interest added is unneeded, does no one any good but them, and it's downright greedy and selfish. The community at large or in this case the family or organization ultimately suffers by a few people misusing their position in order to gain, gain, and gain some more. Now whether this is done intentionally or not makes no difference whatsoever. If you murdered a man the man is murdered. Whether it was an accidental death or not, it's still death.
This is a burden that is given to all of us upon birth. If you're born male, you have it too, if you're born male and develop into a capable man, you have it most. This misuse has many males and even men throwing their hands up and deciding to go their own way. Just simply deciding not to deal with the opposite sex altogether and even the same gender where problems and troubles lie waiting for them to solve.
Many men are getting to the point where they realize they don't have to do this, it's not their responsibility. Whether that decision is right or wrong I can't say. Personally, I think it's neither right nor wrong, it's just a personal decision. But what I can say is this. Whether you decide to throw your hands up and tell everyone to go to hell and solve their own problems or not. I think it's at least worth sitting back and deciding that when helping people to solve their problems you will do so while retaining the right to not give a shit whether it's solved or not.
After all, their problems being solved is not the barometer of you being a good problem solver. Only yours are.
